On June 1st, 2011, the VertNet team will begin work to create the new cloud-based platform. During the first two years of the project, the core platform will be developed and the four existing taxon-based networks will be transitioned onto the cloud. Across the funding period, two biodiversity training workshops and one sustainability conference will be hosted to promote the use of biodiversity informatics and to create a plan to sustain VertNet beyond 2014.
