VertNet search portal

The VertNet demonstration portal searches some of the data currently available on MaNIS, HerpNET, ORNIS and FIshNet II through a single portal.

The VertNet demonstration portal is based on much of the same architecture as the classic thematic portals to provide basic examples of the types of data that could be returned across the 4 vertebrate groups.

For the future VertNet portal, we have proposed the inclusion of phylogenetic browsing, based on data from TreeBase.

We also propose to include Quaternary mammal data from two major paleontology projects, MIOMAP & Neotoma, to provide a longer view of diversity and distributions of vertebrate taxa in relation to
changing earth systems.

 

A major goal for VetNet is to improve the search function and provide new visualization tools. We are still in the pre-development stage and your input is welcome.
